What is the dictionary definition of a mentor?
A mentor is an experienced person who provides guidance and support in a variety of ways to another person - by acting as a role model, guide, tutor, coach or confidante.
Dealing with individuals in order to advise, counsel, and/or guide them with regard to problems that may be resolved by legal, scientific, clinical, spiritual, and/or other professional principles allowing them to advance in an expedient time frame.
Students maintain ongoing contact with their mentors, preferably over
several years, using them as resource people with whom they share, test
and discuss concepts. Mentors advise on actions or directions that lead to positive
